I think what has happened is that the volume of black sands (the sand directly on top of the gold bearing gravel, and also holding 80% of fine gold) was more than anticipated and if you therefore leave on the top sluice you would be stoping ops about every 20 min to clean out both top and sump sluice. By removeing top sluice and connecting transfer barge/pump you can have constant pumping to bank thus no real down time for cleaning out sluice. A wise company would set up the top sluice on the Land and with a 2 inch pump wash and seperate down to balck sands CONCENTRATE which is in effect REEs containing all the gold. When the icon concentrator arrived then rcover all THE GOLD AT ONE TIME and what is left is REEs concentrate. If the had left the top sluice on and let the black sands go back in the river then it would mix with the overburden and recovery costs would not be feasible. The problem if you like. If you remove ANY of the FREE gold you then have to put in a report of gold recovery to government every month and you will have to PAY out Taxes. I know from experience that reporting of GOLD recovery and the timeing is very important (in country).
