What's the purpose of holding.. for years? The ave. hold time is down to 2 month's for equities.

1980's hold times were multiple years.(not including massive Fed input 2008-2009 to the system/followed by failed solution-current events)

If your speaking of trends trading, in Banks, Banks hold assets that are way leveraged, way overpriced and, if you'll excuse the prediction, dinosours in their own age under current regulation as reflected in management. In essense, their own worst enemy.

Trends are traded in box fashion, just as dailey. Ultimate risk= those whom hold in long term.

IMO, If years of holding is possible venue for an investor, why vest in a downward market? Massive amounts are going into Bonds or cash. Remember when markets used to go sideways? They don't now.. because no one knows proper valuations=not a good time to trade labor for equities in Institutions that make the valuations relevant, but don't know how.
