Perhaps "Trials and tribulations" would be a more appropriate moniker.

And given Spencer's new found obsessions with former employees and message boards, it will probably be many more years of tribulations.

FWIW, I'm not sure the actual "trial" lasted more than a few days. You'll notice there is no length of time ever mentioned and the videos posted could easily have been done in a day or two. They appear fairly scripted to me and not spontaneous. Also, given Spencer's paranoia with any information about the Carebot getting out or any negative publicity, I wouldn't be surprised if the person trialing it was a relative of Spencer's or another large shareholder.

A year isn't an unreasonable amount of time for a behavioral study, which is what we are really talking about here. You have to let situations occur naturally.

In this case there was probably tweaking of the CareBot's programming and responses to the tweaks also needed to be observed.
