Dollar and Gold Rise in European Trading

LONDON (AP) -- The U.S. dollar rose against other major currencies in European trading Monday. Gold prices also were higher.
The euro was quoted at $1.2227, down from $1.2277 late Friday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
--108.80 Japanese yen, up from 108.66
--1.2626 Swiss francs, up from 1.2579
--1.2316 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2315
The British pound was quoted at $1.8277, down from $1.8294.
Gold traded in London at $440.50 bid per troy ounce, up from $437.90 Friday.
In Zurich, the bid price was $440.20, up from $438.10.
Gold rose $4.10 in Hong Kong to close at $440.45.
Silver traded in London at $7.39 bid per troy ounce, up from $7.30.
