That's the first book of his I read, I think that's how I got hooked. The movie wasn't too bad either. For me, The Stand was his work ever. I don't it can ever be done on film. Doing it in a mini-series was the right idea, horrible casting though; they got about half of it right, but the wrong picks were seriously wrong.
