500cc? That wouldn't haul my leg out of the driveway.

I will admit, though. I sat on the Valk today and it about wore my arse out. That's one heavy machine. And probably way too much power for me. I felt far more at home sitting on this bike:

But, to make a point about having such a large bike, I have a cousin who is about my size. Never rode a motorcycle in his life until he took the Florida Highway Patrol class to get certified. He bought a Suzuki (1500cc version) as his first bike, decided he didn't like the V-Twin and went with the Valk, all within about 2 months. And he hasn't hurt himself.

You've also gotta understand me. I'm not buying this bike to drive like a mad man. I just want something to cruise on, ride to the beach on, Spring Break. I have never even punched the gas on my Ram and it has a 5.9 V8 in it. I never pegged my Mustang, never went over 80 in it. I'm not a speed guy. I just like to ride. Matter of fact, I rarely pass anybody because I"m pretty patient and never see the need to get anywhere that fast. You on the other hand race. I wouldn't even let that thought come close to crossing my mind.

While you guys are talking bikes --

Cycle World mag this month has an article about Rush's drummer, his bike, and other stuff. I thought about your music prefs when I saw it.

Matt, start with a 500, get comfortable, then move up to a big bike. Cruiser magazine this month has comparisons of most of the cruisers. Yeah, I like the VTX-1300C also. I want one in that brilliant Orange color they've got.

But, Granny says my insurance won't cover.

gotta' figure a way around that LOL
