If everything is so great, and there is no escape from Greenspan, why are the commercials setting up short positions ?

I understand a lot of bears feel hopeless, and feel like the wholeworld is against them, and every possible power in the market is conspiring to manipulate it upwards.

There is only one thing on the bear's side. The reality. Reality of 20+ years of insane credit expansion and debt accumulation. And that force is larger then anything out there. And sooner or later it WILL bring the market and economy down. And there is nothing Greenspan or anyone else can do about it. Every manipulation only works for a while. Greenspan and cronies will be buried under the trillion dollar derivatives pyramid that he created.

I've seen a lot of bears throw in the towel on this rally, just surrendering to what they perceive as endless manipulation. Perpetual credit bubble and mortgage refinancings that seem to have no end in sight.

Just when it seems like its finaly over, market snaps back for the 5th time from the same level and threatens to break new highs once again. It does seem hopless.

But I think its closer then anyone expects, just when everyone is throwing in the towel.
