i havn't been watching the national network news for months, but tuned in today to CBS because of the Schiavo autopsy report and thus by chance came upon the first actual video tape showing China may possibly be sitting on a powder keg with its vast peasant/farmer population.
We hear report after report of hostile clashing with farmers and the "new china"---this video did in fact authenticate that there is trouble in this area in China.
It was a video of armed men(refered to as thugs) attacking peasant area in attempt to drive them off land to be grabbed for "development".
The point was made that because China has rigid gun control it can be suspected the rifles that the attackers possessed were issued to them by the China Government.
You see men with rifles firing at the farmers and the farmers bravely attacking back with things like shovels and what not, and they in fact fought off the attackers.
My "gut" feeling is to apply the cliche 'where there is smoke there is fire', today i saw actual evidence of smoke, my "itch" is there is a real potential for fire here.
Tape was smuggled out of China. Possibility it was staged is remote, but one would have to rerun tape carefully to catch any signs of staging nonetheless.
