I am in total agreement and quite frankly all this developing stuff that has been developing for some time, now is taking center stage, although, it's hard to do with the rising death toll in Iraq, hard to get anyone to pay any attention to anywhere else.

My feeling is that Chavez, a military leader admired by many, is spreading his revolution throughout Latin America with the backing of Russia and China in retaliation for our sowing seeds of dissent in their near abroad. Our containment of Russia and China includes threatening them with nuclear weapons. If Russia and China are indeed backing Chavez I also look for nuclear weapons in our backyard pointed at us as this seems a quid pro quo arrangement.

Some off the cuff thoughts:Chavez is near the only one with the cajones to say, 'U.S. mess with us and watch how crude oil from venezuela is heading away from your shores.'
His drive to develop a 2million reserve populist army is the extreme correct decision.
If nothing else to counter any coup attempt by the old right wing american loyalist.
Get that 2 million army revved up and the U.S. will be confronted with a 1960s north vietnam minus a 1960s south vietnam right at their doorstep if they dare invade.
Venezuela has vast jungle country, it is near 5 times larger than Vietnam with 50million less people(pop. about 25million) and is over 3 times larger than California.
To defeat Venezuela U.S. would have to commit evil on a staggering level.
Is the U.S. public capable in the majority to support such atrocity? Of course, they are already endorsing it and in 1972 IN SPITE of Daniel Ellsberg( at risk of his life) revealing what an evil lying secretive government we are, Nixon nonetheless won in A CRUSHING LANDSLIDE in 1972---- o we are goood people(NOT!).
It was then i knew the majority of this country is capable of endorsing ANY evil, we, in that election, proved that IN FACT, in the majority we are a very very dangerous people.
There will be many rumours saying Chavez has or is getting the bomb, one must at first view this as extreme misinformation to prepare the U.S. majority they are in danger of nuclear attack(even if Chavez had the bomb there would be no danger of nuclear attack, btw).
Chavez, i believe, will not seek the bomb unless he feels a desperate need for a deterrent.
I think Venezuela need no bomb to handle an U.S. invasion, and having one would, however, guarantee a U.S. invasion.
At this time i will view all matters that Chavez is seeking the bomb as CIA dirty tricks---that is their numero uno priority, create fear that Venezuela has the bomb.
Also, if U.S. were to invade or air attack Venezuela, the self defense plus vendetta terrorism would have far more potential of happening in the U.S, than via the Arab world.
Also venezuelan oil is of such an amount in this present every drop matters time, that its loss would drive crude to a 100 dollars.
The U.S. fascist in control in their arrogant, near hitlertarian ego that there is nothing they can't accomplish militarily, could they be evil and delusional enough to take on Venezuela?
