#17023 RE: The Rainmaker #17021

I do understand the meaning PERFECTLY. The green zone at the GM plant is the original. It was the first built, hence the term prototype.

It was also a working model of the new product... again we are in complete agreement.

What you apparently fail to understand is that prototypes are typically the original and often but not always a working model and they are seldom the final iteration. It's from the prototype, that improvements are made and integrated into the actual production model.

In this case, whether the prototype produces electricity at the same rate as the new and improved models, it is not entirely the same as the subsequent models and no GM dealer, who can get a brand new and improved model for no cash out of pocket, is going to want to accept a used prototype instead. Further, regardless of anything else, the prototype and all subsequent green zones are only as valuable to SLMU as the revenue stream they create. If the GM prototype generates far less income than the rest of the models, then it should be sold to SLMU based upon it's income stream and not its cost to Sunlogics. Remember, the stated objective for SLMU is to buy revenue producing solar generating assets built and installed by Sunlogics at a price that will return between 10% to 15% on the investment and that will be based upon independent appraisals.

At the same time, I would like to respectfully remind you that these forums are not a place to insult other posters and this is particularly true when you have no idea what I do and don't know about prototypes.

Further, your lack of scope on this subject suggests you're the one that's not clear on prototypes beyond a dictionary definition. Your definition is very limited and basic and really doesn't adequately describe a prototype any more than the equally accurate but totally inadequate definition of "dog" as "a domesticated mammal" would begin to describe it's full and unique characteristics and its place in our culture versus say a pig or a cow or a hamster.

If I may, allow me to refer you to a few sources on the subject so you can broaden your understanding of a prototype and further your education.
