That's not necessarily true.
The story is rather biblical in nature. For example in Genesis, man and beast were not created on the same day, but this whole thing is far far more complex and actually IS a spiritual war. Just not as portrayed. The stories commonly told are "hand me downs". So much has been hidden, made to favor external authority.
These are the real lies. We get hints in stories of the various gods aiding man and the awakening for lack of a better word, as Julian Jaynes might say, the bicameral, or self-consciousness,... or what would really be higher mind; i.e. Self over self. It all goes wayyyyyyyyyy back.
Gets far more complicated too and even multi-dimensional boundaries for all practical purposes most font need to worry about that yet.
In the end, its all about energy and parasitism.
