Poptech: I do not believe the patents were for sale as you say rather they were apart of a IP "Auction" which gave bidders the right to sign on at a discounted price... not selling the patent itself... I know you will make me research this...

Google is doing this so that small companies like NeoMedia, and patent trolls, have a much harder time suing them.

Google controls, or has an ownership stake, in 100s of thousands of patents

Therefore, these sales decrease portfolio value unless you are sitting on 1,000+ patents.

Any references would be greatly appreciated. Can you provide links/references to support these statements?

In addition to the analysts, the entire board would likely benefit from any facts/clarification.
