The conservative problem is seen by some of the more erstwhile, more sanely religious ones

By R. Duane Graham .. “Corporations are people, my friends.”

—Mitt Romney, August 11, 2011

I have thought all this time that Mitt Romney would win the Republican nomination and had a good chance of beating Barack Obama in 2012.

Then he had to go and commit the anthropomorphic fallacy .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathetic_fallacy .. and ruin it all.

Corporations are people? In case anyone missed the point, he later said ..
http://www.cspan.org/Events/GOP-Presidential-Hopefuls-Campaign-in-Iowa/10737423434-6/ .. they were, “human beings, my friend.”

Barack Obama is one lucky cat.

Romney may still get the GOP nomination because, after all, if you eliminate all the nuts and those who will bolt after a couple of primaries, Romney stands as the one nominee who the establishment believes may have a chance of beating Obama—if Mr. Obama continues to not mention “Republicans” in his speeches.

Even though Romney’s corporations-are-people comment got the most media play on Thursday—as it should have— some of Romney’s other comments at the Iowa State Fair deserve some attention. Like this one, which he uttered while pointing an angry finger at a member of the audience who dared defend Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid:

Let me tell you what Barack Obama is doing. Barack Obama is killing this
economy. Barack Obama is why 25 million people don’t have jobs and can’t find jobs.

When a man can stand up on a bale of hay in the middle of Iowa and utter such a stupendous lie, in front of God and in front of the Mormon Jesus—which is different from the real Jesus to a lot of Iowa evangelicals—I suppose there isn’t anything that man wouldn’t say in an effort to become president, including turning corporate entities into flesh and blood.

Ironically, Mr. Romney has impeccable credentials to talk about why people don’t have jobs, since he made a nice living putting people out of work. If you care to know, you can find one example here of why Mr. Romney knows all about real—as opposed to the fantasy he told Iowans on Thursday—job killing: ..
