Yes, the tires are a huge part of it. My enclosed trailer is about that size and usually has about 4500 lbs of car, parts, and tools in it. With the Sub (1500), I needed the equalizer bars and sway-controller. With the F350, I need neither. It takes one heck of a side wind on the trailer to be felt at all in the truck.
That was with the "highway" tires on it. I've noticed that it doesn't tow quite as well with the snow tires. The lugs are too deep and "squirmy".
