We have term limits for our elected officials in Montana. Back fired. Lobbyists and bean-counters have all the power now. The Legislature is so fresh and green that they have no idea what's going on and have to rely on lobbyists and bureaucrats to carry them through. Some crazy-ass ideas this last session including long debates on whether to allow silencers for hunting, a spear hunting season, and other wastes of public time when they needed to focus on the economy, etc.
Our political system is busted and I don't know for sure what the answer is, but I think it's more public outrage and participation.
