A known name and a famous name are two different terms. I wouldn't classify muddy waters as a famous operations either. They are known to the small investor who is in awe of their work only because they didnt and don't know how easily obtainable it was for intelligent investors to have spotted the scam. In the real investing community, not the retail investor world, neither company has earned their stripes and they won't earn their stripes until they've produced at least a 10 year track record. Sidenote: Carson Block's father, however, was famous in the investing world.
