The government is your master, you are just a slave. If the government says gold isn't money, then gold isn't money. If the government says give me your gold, it is now illegal, then you will give your gold to the government. Now move along and do what you're told.
Gold is definitely money, as is silver. One tiny correction though, the dollar has not been backed by anything more than lies after the termination of the bretton woods standard in '71.
