The thing about those 9000 shares is that they represent only about $1800 to cover. It would make no sense for a Market Maker to play those games for that little chump-change, unless, for some reason or other, there were absolutely no shares whatsoever available with which to cover the position. Unless, of course, they had to pay much more than $0.20 to get shares to cover with. But, that couldn't happen, could it?

Or, alternatively, they think they can just walk the price down till they get a setup to do the Cellar Boxing maneuver. I think maybe they can see some large number of buys sitting somewhere below the current level, and they can't walk past them without getting in even deeper doo-doo. And so they have to keep lofting the ball back and forth to each other, so it doesn't hit the floor. Just a thought.
