I have a friend, a corporate flight attendant, who used to work with Eastern Airlines then was hired by AIG to work the executive jet that carried the top brass, mostly on luxury trips.

She said over 60% of the flights were entertainment or personal fun trips. For example here's the itinerary I recall she went on with AIG.

1. Fly out of NYC to Paris for dinner with some friends.

2. Fly from Paris to St. Moritz for a dinner party and some entertainment.

3. Fy from St. Mortiz to Boston, pick up family, fly to Colorado into Aspen. ski 4 days

4. Fly from Aspen to San Francisco, picked up "business" passengers and flew to Alaska.

5. Spent four days camping in Alaska wilderness (helicoptered into outback safari style huts) salmon fishing on river, camping by the fire, attended with private chefs and waiters.

6. Fly from Alaska to Tokyo to have business meeting. Flew back to Alaska to pick up vacationers on salmon river.

7. Back to Aspen, back to Boston, NYC... etc.

Now if you can show me how Obama sitting in a military spec 747 attending world conferences 99% of the time is anything similar to executives using their jets for 40% to 60% pleasure I'd be surprised. Nor does Obama write off the country's jet use as a personal business expense. Its also a back up bomb shelter as Bush proved when he left DC.

I am a pilot, its not my profession, but I fly. There are plenty of real deductions for flying that don't need special treatment or subsidies, give the subsidies to those who need it and create jobs who use their aircraft to make a living. If you want to see corporate jets using their tax deductions, not paying their share while you have to, go here and see fleets of corporate aircraft parked for the super bowl.
