Agree GG, ETFs have their place esp for short term. I've taken to trading TZA intra day or overnight
when I believe the market is going to give back some and don't want to risk picking a stock. There are plenty of others, but on the short side
I like it, and on the long side TNA --for nothing
more than mkt directional moves.

Strong earnings /guidance stories are pretty visible in the news and is too often wasted
while 'we' look around for less obvious mkt movers.
The power of a well publicized report repeated ad infinitum is priceless-- supported by longs piling in and shorts scrambling(been there!) --
Ever notice what appears to be disinterest midday sometimes? That doldrums drift is
often nothing more than a temporary break followed by afternoon
institutional buying, sometimes near frenzied late in the day with support from
shorts throwing in the towel. Sometimes, with patience ya get a very meaningful run-up.
Did you think NKE would move that much? The concept of not chasing
is especially faulty because of the strength from various sources led by repeated news mentions.
At the very least I like the gambit because in only very
few cases do these
sink after the initial buying. I know there are more technical, timing
and chart related values that can be applied. I can only give ya what I've got... with input from others hopefully we get a few.
