#1563 RE: Richard63 #1557

Underscoring the scandalous duplicity of the Israeli justice system in dealing with Jews and non-Jews, an Israeli court today sentenced a prominent Jewish terrorist to merely a six-month house arrest.

The terrorist, Noam Fiderman, was found guilty of several charges, including possessing and providing bombs to other terrorists, conspiring to place bombs in Arab schools in East Jerusalem, throwing steel balls at Arab pedestrians in Hebron, causing severe injuries, vandalizing Arab property, and planning to burn down Arab businesses near the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.

Fiderman is a former colleague of Baruch Goldstein, the infamous Jewish terrorist who in 1994 murdered 29 Palestinian worshipers as they were praying at the Ibrahimi Mosque in central Hebron.

His lawyer described the house arrest as "symbolic more than real".

Palestinian leaders in al-Khalil (Hebron) castigated "the scandalous duplicity with which Israel deals with Jewish terror."

"If a Palestinian had been on trial for the same charges, he would have received at least a 15-20 year prison-sentence," said Hamed Hijazi, a Palestinian jurist.

He added: "This sentence proves that Israel is not really a democratic country, a truly democratic country does not apply different laws and standards depending on the religion and race of the defendant."

Israeli, Palestinian and foreign human rights organizations routinely issue reports illustrating Israel's judicial apartheid, especially in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
