Murray is simply wrong.
A letter from an aid worker in Afganstan, found in a conservative e zine:
As a director of a "humanitarian organization" working around the world, I was completely bewildered by Sen. Murray's statements on bin Laden. I have worked in Afghanistan for more than three years with the Taliban – and recently with the new government – and as you so aptly put it, Sen. Murray knows nothing of the Muslim mind.
The everyday Muslim people hate bin Laden. Yes, he built schools – they are for young Muslim boys to study how to become radicals.
Day-care centers … well, Joseph Farah explained that.
Roads, oh, sure.
Hospitals – non-existent except a few clinics for those men working in the war.
Does Sen. Murray know the hideous treatment that women are offered there – no education, no permission to leave their house without a male and then never talk to a man? They are not allowed to receive medical care and must be covered from head to foot so they won't cause a man to lust.
I just had to vent a little as I have no voice out there to let the USA know just how stupid these comments are.
