you are using the typical reverse logic that is used as propaganda. the occupation started because people were getting dragged out of their cars and beaten to death, because hearts were getting ripped out of people and thrown out of two story windows, because of suicide bonbs and massive machine gunning of high school students and bar mitzvahs and doctors getting shot to death on the way to work.
there was no occupation in august 2000. Sharons wife went to ramallah to shop. 300,000 "palestinians" worked inside israel. these students you read about could start organizing peace demonstrations against the plo, the islamic jihad, against bin laden, against hamas. This is what you would do.
And if you did this , there is a high liklihood that you would be hung as "collaborators" which is a routine occurrence and easily found in the news
what is going on is standard fare about how to radicalize a population. somebody from the population does something bad. the outside force responds with reprisals, the political organizers then point to the reprisals as being bad, and spur people on to do more "bad things" in the names of the reprisals.
