let's face it, solar chargers are right now still a very small niche market.
nobody is going to start up as a new competitor by first paying tens of millions for a patent
it will take years to even start recovering that expense.
there are plenty of other options for any interested party to start out in this business.
solar charger is right now NOT a hot market where anyone wants to get in at any cost to start producing them also.
Plus a big chance that in 1-2 years time, the major phone companies will come with something like that integrated, and any third party can say "bye bye" to their investment cost then, as the market for solar phone chargers will only become smaller.
You don't really have to be Einstein to make a solar charger, any big company can make something like that from scratch. It is not like there is a secret formula or ingredient to it.
And the patents they have are years old, would make much more sense to buy more recent ones having more recent technology.
I admit it is nice to dream they struck gold here, but that is not how the world works.
