Deaths of three people increase Joplin’s tornado toll to 141

Three more victims of the Joplin, Mo., tornado have died, raising the death toll to 141, Joplin officials announced Sunday.
Officials also announced that they would begin curbside debris cleanup on Wednesday in areas where utilities have been cleared.
Federal officials reported that nearly 6,100 homes have been registered as being damaged by the May 22 disaster. More than $9.5 million has been approved to help Joplin residents, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Joplin officials have counted more than 55,165 hours of work by registered volunteers since the EF5 tornado ravaged the town. They said they will need volunteers throughout the summer.
