for years there was no capital gain in hong kong and a pretty flat tax: just pay 15 or 20% no deductions. at least I think these numbers are right.

i figured that the us was taxed more heavily than sweden if you figure in the decreased taxes in sweden and add the property tax in the US. also our energy costs at least in the east coast are higher if you add the basket of heat, electricity and gasoline all together

I'm not sure what mlsoft meant by "modified," but the modification I would favor would be that the tax would start at some minimum income level, and the percentage would apply to the amount over that level.
