#109545 RE: quarterdeck1 #109544

Who should attend?

This opportunity should not be missed by brand owners, retailers, elected officials, government regulators, plastics converters, and others!

The Niagara Falls region in both Ontario and New York state features all the key elements in a fully Integrated Waste Management System for solid waste. This tour is your opportunity to see leading edge recycling & energy recovery facilities, and learn how they handle waste streams in an environmentally and economically sustainable way.
Why should you join the tour?

Participants will gain:

* A heightened awareness of sorting and recycling technologies for materials collected via the Blue Box (e.g. full range of plastics)
* Essential first-hand experience to assist in the development of business models for sustainable packaging
* Exposure to developments in other jurisdictions that will inform public and private input into the development of future waste diversion strategies and policies
* A better appreciation of technologies available to manage waste as a resource and recover energy from non-recyclable residual waste

What you will see?

Visit # 3: A pilot plant showcasing an emerging technology that converts residual plastic waste into fuels.

JBI, Inc. (Plastics to Oil plant), 20 Iroquois Street, Niagara Falls, NY, USA

JBI converts plastics-to-fuel and natural gas, ensuring that the embedded energy in residual plastics is managed and conserved as an important and useful resource, rather than treated as a disposable waste. JBI’s fully automated process vaporizes plastics and cracks their hydrocarbon chains using a proprietary catalyst. The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYDEC) has recently granted the plant a consent order to operate commercially.
