Suffice it to say that the government economic reports are "adjusted" and then "re-adjusted" with a view not for accuracy, but to make them look better than they really are, presumably to make the public feel better about the economy. Later, when the report is "old news", they quietly revise the numbers downward to reflect the truth. Now they seem to be waiting until the three year benchmark annual revisions (released in the summer) to give the actual numbers, if even then. That way, it has no effect on the markets or consumer psychology. The most recent annual revision was an eye-opener, for sure.

The most egregious example of continuous distortions are found in the employment reports, which are nothing but a farce.
