Please let us know if you do get word from the attorney about this. From my understanding the US patent can't be granted based solely on the EU grant. BUT the EU grant gives a priority status to the US patent because they have the precedence of their EU patent in the US application. So basically, a lot more likely it will be granted..

The US document says:
[0001]The present application claims the priority of the earlier European Patent Application "Smoking Device, Charging Means and Method of Using It", Application No. 07 009 545.0, filed on the 11th of May 2007.

So that's how I understand it.
