Interesting chart comparing sentiment to market performance. If past patterns mean anything the year-end rally which seems to have started today is the last gasp before a big drop.

mlsoft...I think you missed my point. What I said was that companies typically (not "can") lay off at the bottom and hire at the top. So, the impression that layoffs "mark" the bottom is a defacto truth.
