"PR... to stem... sell off" = good PR person/concernedCEO?
It could be a coincidence, but wouldn't be the first time a PR distracted from bad news.
Such as:
Positive PRs right before a refinancing or private placement announcement. (e.g., "Our in vitro work shows our next idea has great promise [even if takes more time and money than we can afford to prove it.]")
Disappointing news announced after hours on Friday, or the day before a three day weekend, or before a long vacation.
Many traders might miss PRs announcing employee layoffs after hours immediately before Thanksgiving or Christmas, but it seems a cruel time to say, "You're fired!"
Would these people work for you again? Would they mention the rotten timing to friends, former colleagues, and family?
Good way to earn a salary while trading stock. Not a good way to run a company.
