I'd like to say we haven't lost our minds but it's not like the Republicans recently in many states have shown they can govern. Like you said in earlier times Republicans had a wide tent and we did have Rockefeller Republican but I don't think even Olympia and Susan in ME could qualify.
Their motto is starve the beast at all levels no matter what it does to this country. Every man for themselves
