I bet you have NEVER spoken to Val. You should. Then it would become clear to you that every dubious claim you have attacked him with could not be further from the truth. Very early on, Oct '09, he admitted to me that he wasn't going to guarantee me 100% success. He was excited and optimistic but tempered those emotions with a great sense of humility.
The biggest surprise in our conversation was that he wasn't trying to "sell" me anything. He had sort of a quiet confidence that I believe comes only from KNOWING WHAT HE HELD IN HIS HANDS. And now he appears to have leveraged that confidence to benefit MOST of us here!
