As a Physician, I would be tempted to give Flucide to any patient that has a suspected viral infection, provided, the cost of empiric treatment is not too high, the delivery system is convenient, and the insurance co. does not stand in the way( which most likely will be the case).

Actually, the base micelle includes the sialic acid ligand, which may be effective against 90% of all viruses. In both Rabies studies, the sialic acid based version had the highest efficacy, including the versions specifically equipped for targeting the Rabies virus. So, whichever indication gets the nod, it is likely that for severe viral infections outside the labeled species, doctors may begin prescribing that nanoviricide. If the nanoviricide is found to be nontoxic in above therapeutic doses, then there is only upside and no downside for trying it for dozens of other infections. After all, even a low effect against a severe case Dengue shock syndrome may be enough to reduce viral load and allow the immune system to recover to more normal levels.
