Kodak patent infringement for 1 billion dollars has created some panic out there.

These big companies know they were lucky for awhile because nobody was taking the infringements seriously.. That has changed with many companies just being bought outright and winning patent infringement suits in court.

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Google put a $900 million opening bid on Nortel's massive patent portfolio as Apple, Nokia and other players consider entering the auction.

Google's bid is for what Nortel says is a portfolio of 6,000 patents and patent applications related to communications technology.
