Don't get him started. He's been bugging me about an idea very similar to that for about a year. I've been reluctant because of the work involved, the radicalness of the change, and the fact that banners are starting to work out better. I've even got some banner ads on the site set up so that if they're clicked, you get the next 50 or 100 (depending on the ad) page views ad-free and am considering also enabling premium features during those ad-free views.
