Yes .. it was shut down ....but Clinton was Clinton .. ;)

.........I just don't know whether Obama would be able to turn it back on them and WIN his next election as Clinton did. IF the past tells us anything .. it seems to me .. Obama would, you know, be pragmatic and 'maybe' ... compromise with 'them' ....I hope not.

I think those angry older 'teabaggers' will BLAME Obama for NOT doing what the republicans want him to do .. after all that age group were the ones who threw the dems out last nov. ..AND are the majority of the teaparty.

I read somewhere that this will be settled behind closed doors, with the back slaps & pats while sipping scotch..

I have ALL MOST felt sorry for John Boehner ..for some odd reason I believe he really doesn't want a shutdown . . AND we know he has the votes to avoid it ...BUT politically, he's got the teatards to shut up, so ......Then the other day, he was telling his thoughts on Libya .. . and I could see and hear his struggle .. He KNEW the right thing to do was to support what was happening .. but you could also see fear and trepidation and hesitation in his eyes and face .. fearing that the teaturds would be mad at him for SAYING the RIGHT THING..

... when I get to feeling sorry for Big TEARS John ..I know someone is trying to tell me something .. ;) .. LIKE QUIT! .. ;)

"Didn't the government shutdown when Clinton was president backfire on the Republicans?"

Yes.

"...Senior citizens believe it's their civic duty to vote and if their SS payments are affected they are going to want someone to blame."

Yup.
