Normally Fannie is the fav of the two. Fannie is more than twice the size as Freddie. It's stock has twice the OS and is normally less volatile. Freddie's role is to handle low income rural areas. Another way of saying "sub prime". About a year ago when they announced that Freddie would be turning a profit and Fannie wouldn't, was the first time I've seen Freddie take the lead.
