Doesn't seem like all that big a workshop until I'm tinkering with a motorcycle or something at the north end and need a tool I left at the south end. Then it seems like the workshop is too big.

The other night the guy who's doing all the remodeling around here moved the backhoe to the back of the shop for me while I backed the truck and backhoe trailer into the shop to get it all ready to go in case there was snow.

I got out of the truck and we both stood at the back of this huge (30 or 35-foot) gooseneck trailer with a big truck on the front of it, garage door closed, backhoe still a long ways from the trailer, and he looked at me and said "Damn! Big shop!" <g>

I get real sedentary during the winter (and have been so busy on the site that I was unusually sedentary all this year), so weight gain is a fact of life for me in the winter and has been this year. I think this workshop will help out quite a bit. Man, I do a lot of walking in that thing!

I like to try to put things into a kind of perspective I can relate to, and here's the one that best conveys to me the size of the workshop: 15 laps around the inside perimeter of it is a little over a mile.

It's a large building by most non-farmer standards out here, but I do know a couple of farmers with buildings larger than this, and have one friend whose building is no less than 100,000 square feet! Or almost 14 times the size of mine!
