Bob. If I were you I'd put a wood stove at both ends of the shop if possible.
You can buy used ones quite cheap where I live.

I'd use ceiling fans and I would try blowers also.
I've seen blowers which work great!
Made all the difference in the world.

Great news on the stove. It sounds like you have a good one there. As for the blower/sheet metal jacket: I wouldn't bother with either unless you plan to put a plenum on top of it and duct the heat out in the shop. Those little buggers put out a lot of heat as radiant heaters and your use of ceiling fans should do the trick. All in all it sounds like you came up with a simple and economical solution. I like those kinds of solutions best! :-)
