cash: Sorry I did not make myself clear. In my example, all of the shares were sold by the company. 99% were just never traded for whatever reason. Perhaps it has nothing to do with zero sum. But it does illustrate that a very small percentage of shares in existence, those that are being actively traded, can have a tremendous impact on the net worth of the market as a whole, and thus the world economy...
