still a waste of money... just not as much. there are much better, cheaper, more effective ways to advertise. he races because he wants to and people like you pay him money so that he can... he doesn't race cause its good for the beverage company. IMO.
plus, once he sells enough shares i'm sure he'll be back with DRM. just a temporary set back. IMO.
Weber's got Koma Unwind on a race car without paying for a race car or race car parts, supplies, travel, hotels, food, etc.Sounds like he is just sponsoring now, which is exactly what some people on this board have suggested.
Great.
Now he can explain why a bunch of people who are well known for being more than happy to drink as much beer as humanly possible would be looking for a way to "chillax" without alcohol.
NASCAR and car racing in general is about excitement. It's a stupid place to advertise relaxation. He would be much better served spending the money somewhere you can actually buy his products in a store (almost nowhere) and to a wider cross-section of the general public, perhaps starting with people who are interested in relaxing, not excitement.
I think the late-night infomerical is a great idea. Plenty of people up staring at the TV wishing they could fall asleep. but for some reason (as though we don't all know exactly what that reason is) Brian Weber feels that NASCAR racing is the ideal venue to introduce any kind of product. (coke, budweiser, red bull, monster, etc are already well known and didnt get that way by putting their name on race cars)
And spare me the foolish 'brand awareness' rap that I know is coming next. NASCAR is a very narrow and repetitive audience. Even if every one of them was aware of of the product, it wouldn't mean much for sales, especially since you can't buy it much of anywhere.
It was a monumentally stupid idea to buy a race team (though they apparently still plan to build and race trucks this year) and it's an only slightly less stupid idea to spend your advert budget somewhere with such limited appeal.
