A Stefano Ricci showroom is a testament to outrageous luxurious men's wear. A philosophy of excellence is asserted throughout every stitch of clothing. From silk to cashmere to the finest hand-gathered Egyptian yarn, each garment is hand crafted and designed from the mind of Stefano Ricci. And indeed, quality is the main component at Stefano Ricci's stores in Beverly Hills, Monte Carlo, Shanghai, Japan, and Beijing.
Ricci does not believe in discounts: "My products are created for those gentlemen around the world that have the means to purchase anything at any price. I never compromise quality in favor of quantity." The superiority of the clothes cannot be challenged by any sale price. Shirts are made with exclusive designs, using only the finest materials, and are guaranteed to have perfect construction (twenty-five stitches per inch ensures the cleanest finishing for every seam).
And although the clothes are opulent to the eye and to the touch, the garments maintain a relaxed air-- ideal for the mega-yacht or nightclub. Likewise, accessories such as belts, wallets, and passport covers are hand-crafted from calfskin and crocodile. Surprisingly, the company prefers to keep the calf on the outside and the crocodile hidden on the inside. According to Ricci: "The real luxury is not in being a show-off. You know what you are wearing. You can tell by the construction and feel of the clothing."
Perversely, Ricci's aesthetic ethos flys in the face of this very platitude; his clothes embody the showiest and most garish aspect of men's clothing. He ultimately offers little more than a case study in the misuse of precious fabric and the tastes of the nouveau riche.
