I am aware of what you are trying to say, and I partially agree.
I totally disagree on how this would have traded had there been no ST error. There's NO WAY this would have opened .55 post split, at least not with any volume. It was NO BID before the split for a reason, and that reason is STILL valid.
The ONLY reason there was any real trading activity post split was the ST error. I do feel for those who were in pre-split who were kept from selling pre-split holdings on the pop to a buck. However, they would never have had the run to a buck to sell into had there been no ST error.
The biggest downside I see to this whole mess is the fact that the ST error introduced cheap shares into the system, and so the price will be drawn more easily back to those levels as those holding those shares sell. Many who got those cheapies will be able to reap a profit while those with a cost basis MUCH higher watch their holdings erode... but that was going to happen anyway once GBOE started selling...
