My friend you are missing the boat on this one. I don't think that Val would consider himself a "telecom Genius" but I think he would definitely give himself a high grade for salesmanship. In this project he doesn't have to be the smart guy on the tech side he just needs to know the right people and have vision as to what it can produce and with his industry connections that is not a problem. Val didn't invent nor would he say that he has invented any of the technology but I believe he knows how to put the pieces together with the help of many others to make this work.
It is really humorous that the "dark side" peeps think this is a one man show. When MDGC takes off it will be because there were many hands and companies, mostly private entities that brought many different technology together to make this work. Val has a vision and all great companies need someone at the helm that has vision, salesmanship doesn't hurt either. I don't see Val out there running cable and tweaking "knobs", wink- wink. His job is to make the pieces fit together and bring the vision to life.
