Actually, I didn't accept cowardly clown's apology. I asked for a reason for the initial communication and didn't get it, so the apology was meaningless.
There's an interesting sidelight, though. Late last evening I checked the writer's profile (didn't think of it earlier) and found the individual in jail. Presumably that hadn't been the case when the messages were exchanged because I think PM'ing is barred when you're in jail. So, it's possible some other rider lassoed this one and I needn't bother myself about it.
