I spoke with a customer yesterday who told me starting pay for a licensed plumber in Chicago is $79K/year. One of his son's friends just got licensed at age 25, and will make over $110K this year with that straight job as well as side jobs. That's a bit better than manufacturing work, isn't it?
3% of Florida's economy is manufacturing based. They don't seem to miss manufacturing jobs judging by their economy.
