We may have heated debates sometimes, but it is usually worthwhile IMO. Often I take a devils advocate viewpoint simply to get discussion going and to try to get a balanced debate (For example, I tend to agree with many of Brian's viewpoints with regards to the US and Europe structural problems and its repercussions on the investing landscape). If I simply said "Ditto" things would be boring ;)... Having discussions where varying types of viewpoints are aired is very worthwhile when things are not in crisis mode. One must always be willing to re-evaluate one's position in the face of a new convincing argument and the only way to accomplish that is to try to look at things from all sides.
