Your snippet is essentially the story of my investing career: many of my gains (on both the long side and the short side) start out as losses. I pay no attention to charts and will buy (or sell short) aggressively even when the market is moving against me. Some people (including a few vocal Yahoo posters) think I am nuts for “ignoring technicals,” but focusing on valuation has a way of working out pretty well in most cases. Regards, Dew
