M&A Announcements Targeting US Electronics, Information Technology and Communications Companies


Through December of 2010, the number of merger and acquisition announcements targeting US electronics, information technology, and communication companies totaled 1689, compared to 1524 for the same period in 2009, an increase of 11%.

This month there were 124 announced transactions. The Software sector accounted for 56% of all announced transactions, followed by Hardware & Systems (22%), IT Services (14%) and Telecom Services (8%).



During the month there were 16 transactions over US$100 million, with an aggregate value of US$10,259 million. The largest transaction in December was the US$2,206 million acquisition of Dionex Corp. by Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. The second largest transaction in December was AT&T, Inc.'s US$1,925 million acquisition of a number of Spectrum Licenses from Qualcomm, Inc.

US buyers accounted for 86% of the announced transactions. Countries with two or more announced transactions include the United Kingdom (4), Canada (3) and Switzerland (3).

kinger, I am not Ice and Ice is not me. Ice brings information to this board. He and I were having a little fun with his name. He seems to be enthused as to the outcome of the happenings for GTXO. I am also, for I have my money invested in GTXO and I have had it their for a long time from when it was a private company. So, I am not wanting the stock to go down anymore. I know many stock holders are upset with the management of the company and I cannot help that. I hope we can all have something good to say about GTXO soon. I am sure the management has not been exactly great or so many would not be so upset with them. Maybe a rise in the price will let that anger subside.
